The Moncton Area Amateur Radio Club (MAARC) was founded in 1966 and traces its roots back to 1936 with its predecessor club the Moncton Amateur Radio Club. Today MAARC members participate in a wide variety of activities from Field Day, nets, training, contesting and more. Packet Radio Like it’s 1984
Mixing two hobbies today doing some packet radio with my TRS-80 Model 4 and my Tandy 1000 RL. The Model 4 is an 8-bit computer with just 64 kilobytes of RAM. The 1000 has a 16-bit 8086 CPU with a whopping 768 kilobytes of RAM. The average computer today has at least 8 gigabytes of RAM, or roughly 8 million kilobytes. How far we’ve come.
